To support the development of Hainan Free Trade Port and Hainan International Education Innovation Island, Communication University of China（CUC）started to prepare for the establishment of Hainan International College in 2018 and the College was officially opened in 2020.

Hainan International College is located in Li 'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone in Lingshui, Hainan. Communication University of China is one of the first universities to enter the Pilot Zone, which is an important component of Hainan Free Trade Port and a pioneer project supported by the Ministry of Education for the development of Hainan International Education Innovation Island.

Communication University of China will bring in its preponderant resources and carry out Sino-foreign cooperative education in collaboration with Coventry University and Abertay University in Britain, Michigan State University and DigiPen Institute of Technology in the United States. It is planned to establish Coventry Institute, School of Entertainment Design, School of Communication and Information Sciences, School of Music, etc., offering majors in visual communication design, digital media art, intelligent science and technology, Internet and new media, game design and management, real-time interactive virtual simulation technology, e-sports, big data and computational communication,etc. All the educational levels for degrees of bachelor, master and doctor will be covered.

In the era of intelligent media, Hainan International College will seize the significant historical opportunities, serve the critical national strategies, integrate high-quality educational resources home and abroad in the field of communication, innovate international education modes, to build a first-class Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution of communication and make CUC’s contribution to the development of Hainan International Education Innovation Island.
